The Torrigiani Garden, with nearly 17 acres nestled in the heart of Florence, stands as Europe's largest privately owned garden within city boundaries. Renowned as a botanical garden in the 16th century, it experienced a revival in the early 19th century under Marquis Pietro Torrigiani, who inherited and expanded the property, transforming it into a 'romantic park' styled in English style, mirroring the trends of that time.
Giardino Torrigiani is well known for not only its botanical garden but also for housing an extraordinary variety of tree and plant species from around the world, for its vintage and modern greenhouses and for its charming covered lemon houses.
Today the garden is privately owned by two Torrigiani Families: the Torrigiani di Santa Cristina and the Torrigiani Malaspina, both of whom reside within the garden. Visits are granted by agreement and accompanied by one of the owners, offering an exclusive tour through the enchanting tour.
